We feel privileged to have some of the finest land in the Southeast under our care. Three miles of rare oceanfront on Hilton Head Island, 30 mlles of pristine shoreline on Lake Keowee. and 3,500 scenic, untouched acres at Lake Wateree, to name just a few. How we approach that land says everything about who we are. First and foremost, we do the right thing. For the land and for those who will live and play on it. Our goal is to improve what nature has provided, while leaving the character and legacy of the land intact.
That approach means something different for each property. Each has its own inherent characteristics. We look at what is special, what is different about each place and then make our plans to bring out the best in the land. There is absolutely nothing cookie cutter about the way we do business. At Beresford Hall, a private waterfront community in Charleston, SC, we marked and saved over 500 grand trees, nearly all of them oaks. We brought in archaeologists to catalog historic artifacts found around the plantation site of the original owner, Richard Beresford. Land was set aside for the community’s use: parks, fields and marsh views. And we created community buildings that reflected the land’s history. This approach was right for Beresford Hall, its land, and the people who live there. Time after time we have found that doing the right thing, makes good business sense, too.
